Every year from 1993 until 1998, I never saw fireworks, because my camp never did anything for the 4th. I vowed that I'd make fireworks a priority after that. For the next few years, I went to the old neighborhood fireworks, running into old friends and doing other generally neighborhood-like stuff. When that got boring a couple years ago, I started going to the big fireworks show at the Philly Art Museum. But even that was less than impressive pyrotechnically last year. (Plus, it was over too quick.) I think my standards have gone up since I was a kid. So this year, for the first time since camp, I've decided not to go see fireworks. See how much I miss them.

Happy 4th anyway, though.
