My secret hope is that Elena Kagan is confirmed to the Supreme Court and then immediately comes out of the closet as gay.

By the way, if you type "Elena Kagan" (no quotes) into Google and don't press enter, the first 5 suggestions for searches are "Elena Kagan husband", "Elena Kagan married", "Elena Kagan bio", "Elena Kagan solicitor general", and "Elena Kagan personal life". One of these things is not like the others...

(And for the record, she does not seem to be married, unsubstantiated rumors say she has a female partner, and a white house official denied that she's a lesbian, according to the Washington Post.)

Really? I don't want to see the PR spin the Republicans would put on about how Kagan and the Whitehouse lied to the American people.

If she is a lesbian, I would rather see her come out of the closet now and let the 9 Republicans who voted for her for solicitor general jump through hoops trying to explain why they won't vote for her now without mentioning her sexuality.

They're really good at those particular hoops. Really, really good. I don't think I'd enjoy watching that at all. I'd rather see them try to jump through hoops about how her concealing her sexuality is at all a relevant lie.
