Wait is this a serious question?

Hyoun says: "If I could save both the time *and* the money, I'd at least consider it."
Lynne says: "DEAR G-D NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. (That's 16 no's.)"

// yes. i have told multiple this.

// it would make my life much better.

I would first shoot you in the face rather than give up cheesesteaks, hoagies, and bacon.

When they pry the vindaloo and sushi from my cold, dead fingers.

No deli-roll? Ever? I don't think I could give up eating. I like food. Granted, it sucks when I'm hungry and didn't bring food with me and am stuck trying to write a paper in the library, but besides midterm season this usually isn't the case.

[identity profile] goob712.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Food is one of the greatest pleasures that life has to offer. Why would anyone ever give that up? Crazy.

I want to go get something to eat now so I can enjoy the experience of eating.

[identity profile] mantisbot.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Now if I never had to SLEEP again... maybe. Food is yummy though.

I would rather be able not to eat than not to sleep. Sleep is lovely.

I see the appeal of not having to eat in that you could considerably shrink your ecological footprint (right? you wouldn't require energy intake in some other form?) -- I might do it on principle if I were also saving the money.

[identity profile] conana.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely Desh wouldn't violate the laws of thermodynamics, even in a hypothetical question.... I suppose some other energy source might be lower footprint, but I worry about cutting people off from the simplest pleasures in life, and from the most basic ties to the rest of life.

(A few years ago I would have taken the trade. Now food is my major social activity, and I like it this way.)

it would be cool to be directly solar-powered, though.

This was a merchant who sold pills that had been invented to quench thirst. You need only swallow one pill a week, and you would feel no need of anything to drink.

"Why are you selling those?" asked the little prince.

"Because they save a tremendous amount of time," said the merchant. "Computations have been made by experts. With these pills, you save fifty-three minutes in every week."

"And what do I do with those fifty-three minutes?"

"Anything you like..."

"As for me," said the little prince to himself, "if I had fifty-three minutes to spend as I liked, I should walk at my leisure toward a spring of fresh water."

correct me if I'm wrong, but the question you are asking is: "if you could choose to never go hungry again, would you? Because, you know, you could totally still eat for recreational purposes if you want to..."

And um. I love food? But I don't enjoy being hungry really. And if I could still eat...then the answer has to be yes. What?

would i give up eating forever

[identity profile] pir-anha.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
i actually like eating. a lot. way too much. which is why i'd give it up entirely if i could. i don't like to be as dependent on anything as i am on eating. also, it would be kinda spiffy to leave a much lower ecological footprint. and to longer have to eliminate; human feces are so gross. but it would depend hugely on what i'd have to do instead to keep this body running.

my roommate and i recently had the "what would you do if you were set for life, financially?" conversation and we decided that we'd spend the rest of our days eating all the foods the world has to offer
