(no subject)

The be-all and end-all of the spinning dancer meme is here. I bet all of you will be able to "switch" between clockwise and counterclockwise, if not at will then at least easier than before, after seeing this.

The three eighteen remaining people here who have no idea what I'm talking about should go here first.

Three, eh?

Quota 33.33% filled.

66.66%. My eyes feel all spinny now.

Hrm. I wonder what it mans if the dancer changes directions every third time you look at the image.

[identity profile] smarriveurr.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-oh... there's 1.0003... people left to find.

[identity profile] smarriveurr.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Whereas I read the scanty article and my immediate question was "Wait, do they mean clockwise looking down from above or up from below?"

Which might reasonably prime the logic/maths center a bit more.

See, and now, after the fact, he changes the statistics, hoping no one will be the wiser.

We're on to you, [livejournal.com profile] desh!

Hrm, now I wonder what it means if you misspell the word "means" while discussing dancer rotational vectors...

Thank you for site!

Thank you for your site. I have found here much useful information. Good
site ! ;)

Thanks!

It just gives me a headache even more though :/

[identity profile] marnanel.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Whereas I was like, "wait, which way is clockwise again?"

[identity profile] tobeginagain.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
no. i am. i can't make it work. even with your link. she's still spinning counterclockwise no matter how hard i try, just with weird white lines in the way.

maybe something's wrong with me.

Hehe, another casualty of the Digital Age...

[identity profile] krisispm.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
If i stare intently at the counter-clockwise one and then switch to the combined I can see it for a few seconds, but I even see clockwise on the counter one half the time. I've never been able to switch views on the combined.

[identity profile] metalphoenix.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I seriously can't see the counterclockwise movement in the original. I can only tell when it's got the lines to make you think the legs have switched. *so confused* But you can see the foot, at the bottom, and it's moving clockwise even in the other one I JUST DON'T GET IT AHH.

[identity profile] rivka-m.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
The three images were especially weird when I got the side ones to spin in opposite directions (that took a while, since I missed the suggestion lines. And once I had the that, the middle one started swinging back and forth instead of rotating. weird.

Clockwise is still my dominant direction, although I can switch kinda at will. I'm not sure how, but it involves relaxing my eyes and letting it become 2D, I think. Your covering-most-of-it trick didn't work for me.

I still insist I'm only a partial left brainer at best.

My brain!!!

[identity profile] rahaeli.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
I still insist this is a bad test, because I am the most right-brained person in the fucking universe and she flips directions every time I blink. (Like, literally. It's distressing.)

[identity profile] rahaeli.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Cognitive science is a hobby of mine, man. I love all the dissection of perception shit.

[identity profile] rahaeli.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
...Huh. Yeah, I wonder if there is some sort of correlation there?

I also wonder if there's anything to the fact that I first saw her after spending the entire weekend a). playing around with money and odds and patterns in Vegas, while b). reading (voraciously and entirely) books on quantum physics.

[identity profile] rue101.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
um... i'm not sure i buy it. she's switching direction plenty, but i'm too skeptical to think it's not part of the animation. either way, she's hot and making me dizzy =P
