There are some that say that fandom is only media (tv/movie/book) based. Others who would say that anything of which you're a fan (musician/sports team/knitting/whatev) qualifies as a "fandom"
Puristically, I suppose that it can't be a fandom unless there's more than one person in it, but by the same token, most fandom-oriented people participated in fannish activities well before they knew what they were doing (I wrote "Who's the Boss" fanfic in my diary in junior high well before I had any idea of what fanfic was)
I refuse to call myself a member of the Philadelphia Eagles fandom. Though it would amuse me highly if the term caught on among Eagles fans. And I'd probably laugh non-stop for hours if I found some fan fiction writers earnestly focused on Philadelphia professional sports teams. (I mean, other than this.)
