Fandom has morphed over the years. Used to be if you went to sci-fi cons you were part of this super fandom that encompassed everything. Then, when more and more people got into self publishing strange comics like Albedo, Those Annoying Post Bros and so on, just knowing of their existance implied you were part of some sort of fandom. That's when fandom just seemed to split apart into a million fragments of madness to use a quote from one of my favorite fictional mad scientists.
