For those who know what I'm talking about: The former "horse's ass" and his wife just gave birth to a boy. (For those who don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it.)

It's very odd to switch back and forth between my job, which frequently entails emailing our members to apologetically tell them "no" in a polite and chatty tone, and Abuse, which frequently entails emailing our users to firmly tell them "no" in a polite and formal tone. I have two modes now, and I often have to resist the urge to use either of them in the wrong place.

Looks like Rehnquist might be retiring tomorrow too, leaving two SCOTUS seats for Bush to fill, and increasing the likelihood that he'll use at least one of the two seats for some crazy right-winger. (At least Roe looks safe regardless of what happens.) But a situation like this is exactly why I voted for Specter. He's always been outspoken and always voted the way he believes. There's no reason to expect that to change now that he's probably a lame duck. So we have a judiciary chair who's pro-choice and believes that court nominees should have to answer questions about their positions on key issues. Go, Arlen. Do the right thing. Our country is in your hands.

I overslept this morning by several hours. Now I'm not tired. Though maybe it's time to sleep anyway. Goodnight.

Word to that. And because it irks me so that there is a news story that I cannot locate in 10 seconds, could you tell me where you heard about Rehnquist?

I read something about a rumor in the Washington Post... basically, it's all smoke, mirrors, and speculation for now. Meaning, nobody knows a GODDAMN THING.

Seconded. I've read half a dozen reports now, all vaguely sourced and from obscure news outlets. In any event, most of them emphasize that the letter won't come until monday. So I'll just not hold my breath then.
