(no subject)

Now that I'm unemployed, I feel like I should join a gym. It's always good to stay active and stuff, and probably even more so when you're unemployed, to avoid turning into a blob of jello and lapsing into depression.

So Penn's gym has this special membership for alumni. I could join for about $20/month through the end of August. And it's not that far for me; only about a 20 minute walk.

The catch? With this membership, I'm only permitted in the gym from 6am-8am, Monday-Friday.

Is it worth it? Will I actually wake up in time to go? Should I just buy DDR and get my exercise that way?

So totally not worth it.

DDR, for sure.

Should I just buy DDR and get my exercise that way?

Is there even a question here? Truly, the answer is obvious.

Nah. DDR is plenty of exercise, as long as you do it for a sufficient quantity of time.

Honestly, with any gym, it's a struggle to go. Especially if it's that restricted - it'll be even worse to force yourself to go with regularity that time in the morning (and have to deal with all the morning commuters etc). I'd go for DDR (or, failing that, see if there's a better rate somewhere else).

DDR is nice for cardio and all, but a gym is good for weights.

you can always just stay up through the night and don't even go to bed until you get home from the gym.

Who gets up before 10?

my two cents

i think you should get the membership, and go in the morning knowing that you are getting what you paid for (money as a motivator always works for me)

and perhaps it will do you some good ^^

decide on a gym thats really nice and really far away. every morning decide that you are going to pay for it. walk to the gym, decide your too tierd, and go home. its totally cheaper, and you wont have to admit later that you bought a game called "dance dance revolution" whos nick name is trying to sound like the next new rpg.

Dude, just go gym shopping. Find something that's close by but not completely crap (something with good enough cardio and with a well equiped weight facility). Don't use the Penn gym if you can avoid it as they are trying to rip you off or, alternately, inconvenience you severly (though the Penn gym is VERY well equiped, that plan for Alumni is so OBVIOUSLY designed for their convenience and not yours it isn't funny). And, dude, seriously... you should have been going to a gym WHILE you had a job.

There's a gym I know about 4 blocks from where you live for $375 a year (I think you have to pay in 3 installments or less to get that price). It's not all stylish and pretty, but it has what you should need. Talk to me if you want to know where it is.

Buy ddr? Just head over to 40th and spruce and play piu there!

Well, if you mod your ps2... http://store.xgamegear.com/piups1padcdx.html

Anyway, it's more fun to play on the real thing at the arcade rather than a home pad :P

Don't forget that with ddr you usually have to buy the pad separate...

And you can lease an arcade machine for 50 cents/ 5 minutes ;)

Well I'll be damned!
