So this kid Danny and his family lived next door to my mom and me when I was growing up. His family moved away when I was about 3. He was 7 then. I don't really remember the family; maybe one or two vague memories, and really only the names were somewhere in the back of my mind.

My mom and I stayed in the same house for about 9 more years, and then moved a couple of times since. We now live in Center City, maybe 8 miles from where I grew up.

Danny just bought the house next door.

Maybe this is a Six Degrees of Separation moment, only with places/houses instead of people. If you two were to compare notes, you might find that you had been neighbors with any of his previous neighbors, for example. I have a professor who is especially interested in "mapping" as an analysis of self and relationships. Might similarities in the two shared locations provide insight on shared personality traits, desires, or experiences? That's kind of a rhetorical question, but it is quite an interesting coincidence.
