9. Beatles - Hey Jude (XPN rank: 9. Am I good or what?)
10. U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday (XPN rank: 166)

Top non-Beatles non-Dylan song: Well, number 1. I'm surprised at the choice for 1, I have to say, but I think it's as good a choice as any of their top 6 would've been.

Top song I don't think I know: 7.
Top song I'm sure I don't know: 17. The Band - The Weight.
Top song I'm sure I don't like: I don't know. I skimmed the top 100 and didn't find one.

Most covered song: I found three Hallelujahs. Leonard Cohen at 302, Rufus Wainwright at 228, and Jeff Buckley at 29. (So I guess that answers that question, [livejournal.com profile] jre and [livejournal.com profile] ruthonfire.) There might be another 3- or 4-occurence song, but I have no guesses.

Beatles songs: 48, by my count. (Plus more that aren't listed as Beatles, like Imagine.)
Dylan songs: 33.
Springsteen songs: 27.
Stones songs: 26.
Joni Mitchell songs: 19.
U2 songs: 16.
Led Zeppelin songs: 14.
REM songs: 10. (With 3 from Automatic, including Nightswimming as top REM song! Nice!)
The Who songs: 9.
Pink Floyd songs: 9.
Elton John songs: 9.
Elvis Costello songs: 8.
Elvis Presley songs: 6.
Indigo Girls songs: 6.
Pearl Jam songs: 4.
They Might Be Giants songs: 0.

Top song by a woman: 15. Joni Mitchell - A Case of You

Songs named "Stay": 0. (No Jackson Browne or Lisa Loeb? What the hell?)

Location of select other songs mentioned in my last post:
18. Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
20. Rolling Stones - Satisfaction
30. Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence
32. Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet
36. Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee
41. Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Troubled Water
73. Eagles - Hotel California
86. Ray Charles - Georgia On My Mind
89. Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay
173. Pearl Jam - Black (and the highest rated PJ song, which I'm very impressed at)
196. Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
264. Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky
283. Talking Heads - This Must Be The Place
300. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
446. Leonard Cohen - Famous Blue Raincoat
617. Pink Floyd - Dogs
NR. lots of [livejournal.com profile] flyinbutrs's and [livejournal.com profile] krisispm's songs

While I'm glad to hear the techno thing, what are you TALKING about? Gots to pay the respect to the Stones. And to Joni Mitchell, for scoring 15... you go, girl!

The Stones suck. Totally overrated. And? Wankers.*

Joni Mitchell on the other hand, rules.

And I've had a lukewarm love affair with "techno" and "acid jazz" for years now. Nothin new.

*I talk a big game, but I'll be the first to admit, I've probably ever heard 4-5 Stones songs ever. I just hate it when other people have a good time.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! yes, certainly, props to joni all the way. but it's incredible that the first 14 songs are all dudes [and, as far as i know, white heterosexuals to boot..]. totally unsatisfactory. there are loads of ladies [and queers and people of color] out there rockin out with their bad selves..

you don't know the weight? it's a good song.

Their top ten is disgusting. It proves that a crowd of people with good taste effectively have only vaguely decent taste. Bruce with the best song of all time? ... I might stop listening to XPN for all eternity.

Without a song outside of the top 200, i think you did pretty damned well.

I will say, though, that "A Case of You" is perhaps the best song written and performed by a woman ever, and that i'm totally comfortable with it at that rank. Which, of course, shows the bias that XPN and I share all too clearly.

Also... holy shit, Rufus beat Leonard? I mean, yeah, totally appropriate and true, but HOLY SHIT.

I'll eventually give you my list, I promise! Just been really busy lately.
