PSA: LJ sucks again

Anyone upset at the lastest crap that LJ has pulled and wants to move over to Dreamwidth, let me know. I have plenty of invite codes.

The only reason I haven't moved over myself is because I care about y'all who I interact with here more than I care about which service I do it on, and many of you are quite casual LJ users who probably don't care what service you're on and might not read me if I were only posting over there. But if I'm wrong, and some of you are interested in moving (or at least reading friendslists on both places), then I may reconsider moving myself.

You can crosspost! Many of us do. :)

[identity profile] rahaeli.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. We obviously want to drive traffic to DW. :)

The options are either comments on in both places, or comments on DW only. Either way, you can write a custom crosspost footer to explain to people how to log in with OpenID, though.

You evil capitalists, you! And smiling while you admit it!

Isn't it horrible? HOW DARE WE OMG.

[identity profile] smarriveurr.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that your greed is unmasked, I am going on a retroactive content strike! Not only am I not posting to DW, from now on, I'm going to never have posted there either!

Goodness, time travel does make for interesting tenses.

Wow. If you master that one, do me a favor and drop a message to my 2004 self, wouldja? Tell her we're going to need to move the master plan for taking over the world up a bit before somebody beats us to the next step. ;)

Once I will have mastered it, I willed to sent your message, but I willed then also later have first warned myself in 2003. So you will be going to have been getting a headstart, but I'll go on to have already been beating you to it.

Personally, I never got past the Future Semiconditionally Modified Subinverted Subjunctive Intentional.

Well, once I decided to have been going to post, I willed have just have warned myself not to will have stopped posting, so I wouldn't will have stopped, but since I appear to will have stopped, I clearly must not be going to will have decided to be going to post.

This is sort of my thing, too. I keep thinking about starting the crossposterama, but literally all the people I know on DW have LJS, while only a few of my LJ friends have DW accounts.

Since I like conversations to combine in weird and interesting ways, I have to go with only posting the place I have the bigger audience... though I guess if I made it "comment over there", maybe I could build a sufficient mass to migrate completely.

Still, communities, friends-of-friends... I think LJ has scary amounts of inertia to use up on crap like this.

While it won't help where people initially comment, you *can* do periodic imports of just your comments so that your archive has both sets of "prints".

Eh. I started an LJ account to keep in touch with my Florida friends, and still use it mostly for that purpose, plus some of my new Philly / DC friends. I'm not a paid member, and don't really care if LJ pulls crap like that. I just like being able to keep in touch with people in more-than-40-character interactions. And my friends are here, so I'm not likely to migrate.

I've also stopped reading facebook and twitter, so if you do migrate, consider giving me a call every once in a while?

Hee! That's pleasantly ridiculous. I think it may actually be written by a 5 year old...

Those of us using Google Reader don't really care what service you use, just as long as there is an RSS/Atom feed.

Ditto. I generally do not visit actual LJ more than once a month.

are dreamwidth ads as annoying as the LJ ones? if not, I might be up for trying to instigate some mass migration.

Dreamwidth does not have ads and will never have ads. :)

If you're short on invite codes, drop an email to support@dreamwidth and we'll see about getting you some more. :)
