If you picked a square in an attempt to win 3-in-a-row, you'd say "[Celeb name] for the win", and if you picked a square in an attempt to keep the other person from getting 3-in-a-row, you said "[Celeb name] for the block"! I'm convinced that's where "For the win" came from, whether anyone believes me or not.
