lazyweb: email client

Hey, all. What's the second-best email client out there that runs on Windows? I'm ready to give up on Thunderbird, since I was waiting about 4 years for 3.0 to come out, only to find that it still doesn't have support to sort an IMAP folder by the date you got the emails. Is there anything else out there that people use, or is everyone so into Google that you don't even download email anymore? All suggestions welcome.

Until then I'll keep using Outlook Express. Seriously, people; help!

Nevermind, found a ridiculous workaround for my problem. Yay, Thunderbird 3!!!

"Date" is date sent, not date received. Or, in other words, the date the sending server said it sent, rather than the date it gets to your server. Those can be different in the case of mis-set computer clocks, deliberately-wrong dates on spam, or email that was delayed in arriving for whatever reason. I hate date sent, because every so often a new email comes and ends up in the middle or bottom of a folder of mine and I never see it.

Thunderbird 3 adds a "Received" column in addition to the "Date" column (and in addition to the utterly-useless "order received" column) that fixes this, but the Received column doesn't work right for IMAP folders unless you do a comical workaround.

How silly! Given that my current network at work regularly delivers emails 4 or 5 hours after they were sent, I'd be totally unable to function if Outlook sorted things by date sent. Glad you found a work-around.

Also, if you're so busy, how do you have time to post to LJ?
