hasty update

Making Shabbat dinner tomorrow for the first time with my new roommate, and the first time at all in probably over two months. I'm quite excited. A few Philly folk are coming, including one of Laura's friends, and I have a guest in from out of town. It'll be awesome.

The holidays are leaving me drained much more so than they should, given them all falling on weekends. Last weekend was fun for Rosh Hashanah. It was about as expected: seeing a bunch of people from back in the high school days, good and relaxed davening, not enough sleep, and some nice meals with families, including one with my own. Sunday night I was so frazzled, trying to catch up on life and watch a DVRed football game. The rest of this week has been a slightly scaled down version of the same. And I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

I hate that the new TV season has to start NOW of all times. I am enjoying the season so far, though. You might even say that I'm gleeful.

I felt like there was more I had to say in an update. I guess not. Or I'll update again soon if I do. G'night!

Time for a backup hard drive? Also, for all the network shows, you can watch them on the internet and let the network store them for you. I'm sure you can come up with a way to hook your computer up to the tv.

Currently the best I've figured out so far is to download a show and then convert it to a format readable by my iPod, and then plug my iPod into my TV. The drawback is that the conversion takes 2-3 hours per hour show, and my computer is basically unusable during that time. (Well, and that I can't use a remote to pause my iPod.) I have to do this anyway (L&O SVU is on at the same time as Glee...), but it's annoying to rely on.

I am using the download idea to archive older stuff, though. I just downloaded all of the Boy Meets World episodes taking up space on my DVR, so I can delete them and free up a few hours. I love bitmetv...

Yeah, but why do you need to download your weekly shows? You might want to download your favorites, but for most things you just watch and delete. Hulu or the network's website work just fine for that, I would think, for SVU, and save you some effort.
