movies
I'm not really a movie person. I've probably seen no more than 2 or 3 movies any year this decade. But last decade I watched more...and I'm just now realizing why: last decade was more awesome. Here are the awesome (either according to me or according to popular opinion) I've seen that came out in 1999:
10 Things I Hate About You
American Beauty
American Pie
Analyze This
Austin Powers
Being John Malkovich
Fight Club
Go
The Matrix
The Sixth Sense
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
(and fine, I guess I'll put Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on here too)
Really, does any other year measure up to that? I'm happy to only watch 1999 movies for the rest of my life. In fact, I should really see 10 Things again sometime soon.
(For the record, I think I buy the theory that all the good writing and producing is going into TV rather than movies lately. I'd much rather watch The Wire (or The Sopranos or BSG or or or...) than most movies I've missed from the past 5 years.)

Aw, sad, I lost my Kat icon when my extra userpics expired. It's here in spirit.

On the other hand, the third Matrix movie was on TV the other day. Watched some. Should not have. REALLY should not have.

I'll watch 10 Things I Hate About You again with you any day.

Glee on the other hand... does not pale. It's fantastic. Somehow, I wonder if I'll ever be too old to enjoy tv shows about teenage angst. Not yet!

I'd like it more if some of the adults (other than the main one) weren't absurd caricatures, if some of the kids weren't played by people older than you (I mean, the tall guy in glee club is played by an actor 3 years younger than the actor playing the teacher), if the singing scenes sounded at least a bit like they were from a gymnasium and not a music studio, and if they stopped using autotune. It's funny, and well-produced (I liked that last scene of the girl singing in 4 different places), but they need to tone it down a bit. Especially the wife.
Sorry. I'll still give it another shot, because yay, teen angst!
