I just created an account with that infernal short-attention-span-theatre website that will not be named or linked to here. I just decided that I should try "following" some people to see if it's something I'm interested in paying attention to. I don't intend to post again, now that I've made my initial post there. (Of course, I think that was my intenion after my first LJ post in February 2002...)
Anyway, I'm just telling you in case you use this site to which I'm referring, and want to tell me your username. (Even those of you who use loud-[site-that-won't-be-named], since your username isn't apparent from those LJ posts.) Comment below, or if you don't want everyone here to see your username, put it in this handy-dandy form here:

It's pointless if you do not have small bursts of things to say. I actually enjoy it way more than I thought I would.

I categorize my communications into two categories: stuff I want to save forever, and stuff I don't want to save. (Part of me wants to save everything, but the rest of me is resigned to the fact that that's just not possible, in the case of in person conversations and such.) So none of the methods of saving twitter posts are any good, or more to the point, twitter posts don't make sense out of context anyway. So I'd only be interested in non-saving communication via twitter. So anything I say there would have to either be a duplicate of something I'm posting to LJ or FB, or be something I'm willing to not retain. I don't know what I'm willing to not retain.

The excuse I'm using is that it's stuff I don't want to save and notes for things I want to save forever to help me get to a point where I will actually write about those things rather than just thinking about them.
Also, it has been useful for engaging other interesting people in conversation I typically wouldn't have.
Essentially, I'm using it for the same three reasons I'm using LJ :)
