Of course, today's not only Pitchers And Catchers Report Day for much of Major League Baseball. Today's also National Donor Day! There's still a huge shortage of donated organs worldwide, and no matter your age, I strongly encourage you to think about this, and to be an organ donor. You don't even have to fill out a form (though that helps too); all that matters is that your loved ones know your wishes. If you do want a form, though, here's one.

i'm pretty sure that the family can override; keep in mind that it's not "your loved ones" in general who make the decision but specifically the next of kin or legal guardian [if under 18 or otherwise considered unable to make your own choices, such as severe mental disability] or spouse. so for example, for claire who has an ambiguous "boything," unless the relationship is legally defined as spousal, that boything can say whatever he wants but it won't help.

but while i'm pretty sure that the family can override organ donation as they can a 'do not resuscitate/do not intubate' order, the postmortem lecture was the first one we got in nursing school and it's fading fast.

curious what your mom says since it sounds like she knows better.
