desh | (no subject)

My @alumni.upenn.edu forwarding address (and perhaps other people's....can anyone verify this?) has not been working since something like Friday. I found out yesterday morning, and haven't gotten a tech support response from anyone yet. (I emailed about 3 different people who might be in charge.) I have no idea what's wrong, or what could possibly be wrong with something that's just a forwarding address. I suspect that some misguided attempt at spam filtering has gone haywire.

But it's driving me NUTS. I HATE lost data, and I suspect that's what this is. (Though email delayed by days and days is about 63% as bad as lost data.) I hate that I can't email certain mailing lists because I won't get personal replies, and I don't feel like changing all of my mailing list memberships. I'm feeling quite handcuffed here. I just want to be able to talk to someone who can tell me that they're working on it!

If you have anything to say to me for the near future, or if you've emailed me since Friday at that address, please comment here or email whatever other addresses you may have for me.

I was having the same problem. Our alumni addresses are handled by alumni connections (and I would assume yours is too). Stuff is coming through now, and the old emails are slowly being delivered.

I too contacted a couple of people to find out what was going on, and also got no response.

Okay... so this DOES smell like a connection.

I just checked it myself (through the UPenn AlumniConnections web portal), and though my settings are all still there, my test email I sent to my Alumni address still hasn't come in. Desh, you're right... something fishy is going on. I just CCed you on an email to their "Feedback" address, though I don't know how speedy they'll be with this. Maybe we just have to keep pestering them until they do their damn job and get this fixed.

Not yet... but guess what I DID get? A Mailer Daemon error from upnfeedback@alumniconnections.com! Assholes.

Are all of these accounts setup as forwards only, or do some people actually login to their @alumni.upenn.edu accounts? If it's the latter, they may have just gone on a run and nuked every account that hasn't been logged into in some certain amount of time.

The former. The only reason you ever need to log in is to change where you want them to forward. Which created more problems, actually, because I wanted to verify my forwarding address, and I also wanted to contact them but couldn't find a feedback address when logged out, but I couldn't remember my password because I so rarely use it, and they would only send a password retrieval email to the @alumni address...

In case my attempts to email you and SMS you fail... do you know people in Israel that want to have me over for Shabbat Chol Hamoed (and don't know it yet)?
