I've been reading some of my old LJ posts, and it's striking to me how much of a better writer I was back when I was in college, writing regularly for classes in addition to stuff on the web.
If anyone's curious, here are some good posts about 5th grade, my car, and a strange Christmas encounter. The latter is one of the best things I've ever written, if not the best. There was also a fun picture post, too.

The non-self-centered point of that is that I don't think college has so much to do with it so much as writing begets betters writing, and eventually some of it turns out good. (Back to being self-centered,) As I've been tagging old posts for last ::mumbles:: ten months ::mumbles:: I've read so many striking, memorable turns of phrase, and some of them were tossed off in the most casual of posts.
Casual, but part of a string; posts with frequency.
Moral: write more!

4 years ago I couldn't move out. No money and no steady job. Moving out has only been a realistic goal for a year or so.

Not that I don't think you should move out now... I'm just saying, if it were something you felt strongly about, you'd have done it by now.
