Jury duty so far: sat in a room without a phone, sat in another room without a phone, got dismissed for lunch.

Huh... DC will pay $30 a day (plus $4 extra for transit fees), but that STILL isn't quite enough. I'll tell you how my own personal Jury Duty goes this June.

Yes, yes you will. You will sit there, listen to me bitch, and you will LIKE IT! Whether you care or not, you are going to shut up and listen because you are cheaper than a professional therapist and if you don't, you'll be sleeping on the couch for a week.

NYC is $40/day! And that's for grand jury, which is just 3 hours/day (for 4 weeks); i don't know how much it is for a trial jury.

(This information is correct as of 2004.)

Yeah, I made $760 and it was the summer, when i wasn't expecting to earn anything! In NYC, grand jurors are a completely different selection pool -- it says "grand jury" on your summons.

NJ pays in that range after, I think, the second week. Possibly third. Before that, $5 a day. Makes ya wonder.
