I hate football.

I'm not a fairweather Eagles fan. I'll still follow the rest of their games this year, while also following Donovan McNabb's recovery from his upcoming ACL surgery.

But I'll be rooting for the Chargers. Tomlinson's the second best rusher I've seen in my lifetime (only Barry Sanders was better), Philip Rivers is quite impressive, I can't bring myself to root for any NFC team, I'm sick of the east cost hegemony in the "other" conference (i.e. the one without the Philly team) in both sports I follow (Yankees, Red Sox, Patriots, Steelers, Ravens), Peyton Manning annoys me, and the Bolts' powder blues are the best uniform in sports.

I'm a Philly fan to the end, but recently, being a sports fan here has just been too painful.

Less than 3 months until pitchers and catchers report...

Well, at this point, it's mostly age. He relied a great deal on his mobility during his pro-bowl years with the 'Niners, and he just kind of got beat up. So now that he isn't really a running threat, he can't get linebackers and safetie to bite on his scrambling... meaning that his receivers aren't as open as they used to be. He never was the most accurate pocket passer, though he wasn't terrible.

Basically, even at this stage of his career, he doesn't suck. He's a good backup quarterback, even one to take your team for 3 or 4 games, should your starter go down with an injury. However, I don't think that he can get the Eagles to the playoffs. 6 games, possibly needing to win 5 of them, is asking too much. They might get in going 4-2 down the stretch, but they would need a bunch of other teams to also choke.
