I tried pork once when Gaim and naim were both broken. I don't remember liking it very much... unless it just didn't work either. I'm not sure.

ncurses programs don't really count as command-line, but close enough I suppose. "no mouse bindings." owl, guaranteed to confuse and annoy unless your primary IM paradigm is something like zephyr or ICQ. And if one of us ever gets around to writing jabber bindings, I'll start being on Jabber again.

i use bitlbee to run a AIM- (and jabber-, msn-, yahoo-, etc) compatible irc server on my localhost and connect to it with irssi

I use Gaim, but if that breaks (I use the beta release) I use naim.
