Alice's Restaurant is a famous and popular song by Arlo Guthrie. The original verson is about 18:30 long, and subsequent recorded versions are longer. The song begins by telling an incident that occured on a Thanksgiving in the mid-1960s, and it's become tradition for many radio stations to play the song on Thanksgiving. Most radio stations schedule the playing and announce it beforehand, and noon is a popular time to play it. If it were on when I was expected to arrive at a dinner, I'd be 18 minutes late too.
