Hey, where did your LiveJournal username come from? (If you have numbers or underscores or, G-d forbid, extra x's used for spaces in your name, don't count those. Only the words.)
Okay check this out. I only whip this out when I really want to show how internet-ancient I am.
We used to call the NASA shuttle update team on a 300baud accousting coupler to get updates on the shuttle (my grandmother worked for NASA back in those days). I've been through it all, my very first computer was a Texas Instrutemtns KEYBOARD deal that you hooked up to the tv and it was really cool when they came out with the module you could hook up to it to make it talk like a really stilted old-fashioned sterotypical computer voice. My very first program was written on that in BASIC and it was to calculate bowling averages.
I just checked with my mother, she believes I was 7 when I wrote my first program. This is why my friends who code are always all shocked I don't do programming. :P
Ha, nice! Yes, you do win. Though I did start on BASIC too. Ah, the good old days. Javascript really needs line numbers.
I remember, many years ago, that my dad had a modem for his Apple ][c. I didn't know what a modem was, though, and didn't ask. I just remember sitting quietly in the back of the computer room. My dad would type something, and it would show up on the screen. Then he would stop typing and STUFF WOULD STILL BE SHOWING UP ON THE SCREEN!!!! My dad was quite the magician then.

Or maybe not.
(I'm a bit disappointed, too. You were one of the people I really wanted to see the poll results for! A shame you don't remember.)
