(no subject)

This week, I decided to use Facebook to get in touch with a handful of people who I used to be close with but barely (or at least much less frequently) talk to anymore. It's been quite fun. To that end, if you read my LJ but haven't said anything in awhile, and want to say hi, this post would be a great opportunity.

Things have been good! Joline and I went to DC last weekend. Spent Shabbat in Silver Spring and hit up the new minyan, Segulah. Relaxed most of the afternoon, except for a couple hours when I met up with, and finally met, xyellowroset eman [livejournal.com profile] nnaylime. (Shabbat meetups are more pleasant in good weather. Sitting in air conditioning might have been preferable. But it was fun regardless.) Then, after Shabbat, Joline and I basically made appointments to meet friends. We had ice cream Saturday night with RJG and her boyfriend. I met a couple of Joline's friends for brunch on Sunday, and a couple more for a bit after that. Then we had lunch with Beth and Shai. After that, I was dragged to see the Albert Einstein statue, which I liked and which I'd never before seen, before we finally skipped town and came back to Philly.

Oh, and Joline will be staying in Philly. She's transferred law schools, and is sticking around. Yay!

This Sunday, as a kickoff to August Of Awesomeness 2010, we're going to Atlantic City for the day. $3.50 for two round-trip tickets on Megabus. Thanks for being awesome, Megabus!

Randomly: Every day I notice more gray hair on my head. It's probably not that noticeable to others, but I can tell. This is so exciting! I never thought any of my hair would turn gray before it all fell out!!!

And, to end on a downer, there's been a bit more than usual severe illness and death on the periphery of my life lately. (No one I'm close with now, but former acquaintances or coworkers, and family members of friends.) It's been quite sad for me, and I'm sure much more hard for others. Sending healing vibes (and occasionally prayers, if you're into that sort of thing) in many different directions for y'all. Take care.

I, for one, keep noticing more white hairs - just a few, here and there, but they stand out pretty well against the dark brown once I know of them. I've been intellectually aware that I've had a couple white hairs growing in for at least a year, but once I really noticed the first one, there seems to be a new one every day. Makes me wonder if I'm going to go the brown equivalent of salt-and-pepper then straight to silver...

I'm super happy for you and Joline! That cross-country move is huge. I hope things work out there.

Also, the Einstein Memorial is one of my favorite monuments. Also, I like the DC Vets of WWI Memorial a lot.

I post on FaceBook all the time (where all the time equals sporadically, but pretty frequently). Can you see anything when you go directly to my profile?

I don't post on LJ that much any more, really. I do picture posts sometimes, though. Usually when I'm on vacation.

Yeah, Facebook is always randomly dropping people off my news feed or whatever it's called. Reminds me of the days when LJ used to randomly not show people on Friend's pages. I'm LJ-ancient. :P

I saw the strikethrough and momentarily thought "eman" had come available - oh, you toy with my emotions.

And the Albert Einstein statue is awesome, and very special to me - as when I was 13 I had my picture taken there, and my mom blew it up and sent it to me the day I got my job at the Academies :-)

And it was lovely to meet you, too!

I still read you! I don't write much though I know. All the social networking I let myself do these days is post NYTimes articles on Facebook.

I think it varies. I know my father had black hair, and he definitely had gray hairs coming in before any of it started going white.

And, yeah, while I got my facial hair from my mother's side, and the guys there are all balding, I hope I've gotten my head of hair from my father - who managed to grow a full beard and kept a full head of shoulder-length hair while getting chemo. I like my long hair, and if I start going bald, I'm going to have to start shaving my head.

*ahem* drag seems like a strong word.
