To use a slightly-more-charged-than-necessary example, I'm trying to distinguish between "No, you don't hate having homeless people living on your street, because that's wrong" and "Yes, you hate having homeless people living on your street, whether you wish you didn't have those feelings or not". Acknowledge the inappropriate feeling. Embrace it. Own it.
(Then do something about it, do the right thing, based on where you're coming from. Have a conversation with a homeless person, or give money to local programs to help them, or whatever. But that part isn't what I'm talking about.)
