Yeah, I picked it up from a Latin teacher in high school. He was convinced that English really needs a distinct 2nd person plural pronoun, and that y'all might as well be it. Who was I to disagree?

I agree-- and it's gender neutral, which gives it extra points in my book. No need to gender things unnecessarily...
