Somehow, every single Bostonian I know, whether current or expatriated, whether ordinarily a sports fan or not, is now going nuts for the Sox. And it's only the ALCS! They're not even in The Series yet...

So in honor of the only sports city anywhere near as good as Philly, I have decided that I am a Boston sports fan for the rest of the month. I'll be hard-pressed to root for the Patriots, but I'm solidly on the Red Sox bandwagon now. It's gonna be a fun ride. It already is.

Yankees suck!

For me, it's not so much about the Sox as two other, more sacred and holy concepts:

• The Yankees as the ultimate expression of all that is evil (and capitalist) in this world


• The very idea of a BoSox - Cubs Series. Will the world implode? I have to see it. I mean, if (may it be the will of merciful Allah and the gods of baseball) then one of them's got to win, and that's CRAZY TALK

Yeah, clearly. On both points. In particular, I can't wait to see the simultaneous earthquakes or volcano eruptions or something in both cities as soon as the "Dream Series" starts...
