(no subject)

In my continuing effort to have more radical/progressive/lefty/whatever cred than [livejournal.com profile] below_the_belt, I just signed up for Better World Club in anticipation of my AAA membership expiring. As Amanda explained, in an amusing post about a car trip I shared with her, AAA has some lobbying practices that a lot of us might not like so much, such as opposing public transit funding and opposing further environmental regulations on vehicles. Also, Better World Club has bicycle roadside assistance. I don't bike, but that's kind of neat. And I'm also saving $10 on membership.

Oh, wait. [livejournal.com profile] below_the_belt probably doesn't even have a car. I guess I lose this round. Next time, Gadget.

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. Unless I never break down for the rest of my life, which is the primary goal.

I didn't know AAA lobbied again public transit! That's *evil*! That's the deepest level of Alan Hell Evil!

Wow. Thank you for this post. I'd never heard of them before, and since I will probably be getting a car when I move to the US, I was planning on just getting AAA or maybe being an extra driver on my parents' membership. Now I think I know what I'll be doing instead. Thanks!

Yes, I just spent the previous hour researching before writing that comment.
