I usually alt+tab away from whatever I'm doing and look up until I can determine if he's got anything useful to say. Normally, he doesn't, and I go back to slacking off whether or not he sticks around.

I have my own office, and it is setup such that people who walk in cannot see my monitors, so for the most part, I don't have to do anything, but if it's a youtube movie or something with sound, I hit the muste button
