pre-Pesach, part 2

And one more thing, a heartwarming tale from this morning:

I went to the siyyum at my synagogue this morning. Beforehand was morning services. As usual, I wasn't wearing tefillin, because I don't have any.

After services, [livejournal.com profile] maxlebow asked me why I wasn't wearing tefillin. I told him that I didn't have any, and that the last time I put on tefillin was the week before my bar mitzvah, when I borrowed my uncle's.

He said that it was a shame that I didn't have my own set, and he gave me his. He explained that it was just an indefinite loan, not a gift. And that he has 3 sets himself, the other two of which are more important to him. I refused at first, but then accepted.

I think I was too dumbfounded to properly thank him at the time, so I sent him an email. But I'm still kind of in shock.
