Help me do good.

There is a popular children's book that I will likely have in hardcover soon. I will also likely no longer need it anymore by around the midpoint of next week, since I collect the paperbacks instead. So I would like to donate it to somewhere where it might be needed. But I don't know how to find such a place, because you can't look for "underprivileged inner-city day care" in the yellow pages. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

How about a homeless shelter . . . or a battered women's shelter? We have one in particular in DC that we do drives for 2-3 times a year that helps women and their kids get back on their feet. Unfortunately, don't know of one in your area though.

Books for Soldiers

Library! Libraries love to get books donated to them!

And I don't know any shelters in the Philadelphia area, but Emmaus House down in Northern DE are good people. They're a part of Homeward Bound Inc., which might have more local shelters.

do good

"popular children's book" I think we all know exactly what popular children's book you'll be getting soon, and exactly when you'll be getting it, too.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until Saturday night to read mine, since I'm not home for Shabbat. But at least it'll be there motzei shabbat, and I won't have to go to the post office of doom like I did 2 years ago...

Do you think there will be an e-copy again?

it's hardly a children's book anymore, and if so not for preschool age kiddies ;) what about children's hospital?

before you send it to Sharona, you should lend it to me. Then do good with it. (It's not that I'm cheap, but I wouldn't want to keep a hardback either, and I'd hate to think that I'm contributing to the devastation of forests by buying a book I'll just buy again in paperback later.)

the daycare center in north philly where I've been doing staff training has a summer camp for older kids - I'm there 2-3x/week and i'd be happy to bring it.

or how about a summerbridge site?

I can find out how to donate to one of the libraries at Philly public schools, if you want. As far as I can tell, they tend not to have a budget, and only have donated books.
