I've been known to tell people on occasion, without argument, that I know them better than they know themselves. I pride myself on understanding people, or at least making a sincere effort to.

And yet, there are a select few people that manage to completely shock me out of my socks, even though I've known them for years and years.

I think what just happened is a good thing. But it'll take a bit to sink in.
